Transmuted Vessels (2019)

Sizes vary

Materials: Wax, sand, mud, roots, wicks, plexiglass

These wax castings are made in unique hand-formed spaces in wet mud or sand of a personal sanctuary. The forms are single-use and cannot be recreated, but the materials can be melted and reused. The vessels fill an empty space of air that has been created, but can only hold a fixed volume before overflowing. This echos the nature of the female uterus and reproduction, in which a woman’s interior transforms, purges, and renews itself to be converted again.
